At the recent annual meeting of Indiana Ministries, I shared with you that we are stepping up our commitment to multiply churches and church campuses. Four years ago we entered into a Midwest Multiplication Initiative with Ohio Ministries, Michigan Ministries and Healthy Growing Churches to more effectively multiply churches. As part of this initiative, I’ve been working with a group of Indiana pastors and churches that are showing an ever-increasing commitment to church multiplication. In order for us to continue moving forward with this focus, it has become apparent to the Indiana Ministries Board of Directors and me that we need someone who can give dedicated staff attention to our multiplication effort. The most likely person to provide leadership in this area was already working with us through HGC, Tom Planck.
Tom is a former church planter who now works full-time with HGC. As of October 1, part of his assignment is serving as multiplication catalyst for Indiana Ministries. Though this is a role driven by outcomes rather than hours, Tom will basically be serving in a quarter-time position to intensify our multiplication efforts. Tom will be helping cast vision for multiplication, resourcing churches in developing their multiplication strategy, providing oversight for multiplication projects, and strengthening our multiplication process.
I will still be involved in Indiana Ministries’ multiplication efforts and am just as passionate and committed to it as ever. Tom and I have a five-plus year history of working together, know each other’s hearts, and share a common ministry and missional philosophy. I am thrilled that our partnership with him is going to an even deeper level as we seek to change the spiritual landscape of Indiana.
If your church is interested in planting a church, adding a campus, or partnering to multiply, then contact Tom (tom@healthygrowingchurches.com). He lives in Cincinnati and will be on-site in Indiana several days a month.
