Just over a decade ago Indiana Ministries and Church at the Crossing partnered to plant Crosspoint Church in Fishers. Nine years ago Crosspoint joined the multiplication partnership to plant Catalyst in Pendleton. Now all three churches are partnering with Indiana Ministries to plant another church (which is yet to be named) in the greater Indianapolis area. After a couple of years of conversation, prayer, and reflection, Josh Wagner (and wife, Nonni) has completed the church planter assessment process and has begun laying the foundation for this new church. Launch is targeted for fall 2018. I’ve asked Josh to introduce himself to our pastors and churches across Indiana. If you’d like more information about this church or want to support it in some way, contact Josh at joshtherockwagner@gmail.com.
One of the greatest burdens on my heart is this: there are so many people far from Jesus. In the great city of Indianapolis there are hundreds of thousands of prodigals who have not yet “come to [their] senses” (Luke 15:17) and returned to our Father. This is why we feel a conviction and calling to plant a church in Indy.
My name is Josh Wagner. I’ve been married to my sweet bride, Nonni, for 10 years. God’s been so good to us and has blessed us with three fantastic children and a fourth that’s due on Jesus’ birthday. As a family, we are answering God’s question to Isaiah the same way the prophet did: here we are, send us (Isa 6:8).
We are especially passionate about seeing and bringing the faithful presence of Christ into every aspect of Indianapolis, so that the Gospel spreads and seeps deeply into the hearts of the people of Indy. One of the ways we are going to do this is by starting a Christ-exalting, Gospel-preaching, justice-seeking, grace-showing, life-giving, Kingdom-building, city-transforming, barrier-breaking, unity-bringing, multi-ethnic church. That’s a mouthful! But this really is the kind of church we feel called to start and lead.
We also feel led to start a multiplying church. Our plan is to start with one or two planters already in our church, so that we can launch at least one church within 18 months of our start. While we are committed to planting traditional-model churches, we are also passionate about seeing a multi-ethnic multiplication movement in our city in a more incarnational way. This means that we want to inspire and equip our people to start non-traditional, innovative churches that bring the Kingdom of God into every aspect of our city.
We are so excited for the journey that God is taking us on, knowing that he who started a good work in us will bring it to completion in Christ Jesus. If you’d like to be part of this plant or be a prayer partner, please email me and let me know.
